Hello, we are Josh and Kendall! We are honored to have this opportunity to share who we are with you!

We first met as colleagues; we were both teachers at the same school! Kendall had asked Josh for help with a couple of technology questions and later he messaged her online. When school was canceled one day, we decided to move our scheduled date to that night! We enjoyed our dinner, continued talking and have been together ever since. 

After months of dating, learning more about each other, and laughing more than we can say, we knew we wanted to spend our lives together. On a trip to Florida with Kendall’s parents, Josh had Kendall’s friend and family help with his proposal. We were married 2019 and had our close friends standing with us and praying over us before the wedding. 

After enjoying the newly-wed life for a little over a year, we started to discuss having children. Josh had always wanted to adopt and Kendall was always open to it. Suddenly, it seemed adoption was everywhere; in movie plots, on TV and we even bumped into folks and met new people who have been touched by adoption. Hearing other’s experiences has only reassured us that adoption is right for us. 

We hope to become parents and feel God is calling us to pursue this dream through adoption. Those who love us are giving us support and encouragement and are praying for us and you. We are ready to welcome a little one into our home and hearts. 

One of the first things that attracted me to my husband was his love and passion for helping others grow. Josh has always put so much of his heart in helping children do their best in what they want to do. When I met him, he was a teacher and a basketball coach; he spent time, energy, and compassion to help his players and students do their best and reach their potential. Still today, he takes the time to get to know each of his students and identifies what helps them the most to learn.  

When Josh is around children he is amazing to watch, especially with the kiddos in our family. Whether he is playing or talking with his nieces and nephews or coaching basketball camps, kids are always excited to see him. One child said they only wanted to play basketball if he was coaching! These moments make me so excited to watch Josh become the amazing dad I know he will be.   

Josh’s favorite part of his day is when he gets home and is greeted by our puppy. He and his pup are best friends. I can only imagine how much more excitement there will be when he can come home to a little one too!

One of the first things I noticed when I met Kendall was the huge heart she has for her students (and that she was pretty cute). Kendall is patient with everyone she encounters. I have seen her work with children from babies to kindergarteners and they all love her; she is dedicated to helping them grow. 

I cannot wait to see her encouragement and support flow into the life of a future child. Her excitement to prepare the nursery and our home for a child melts my heart. She is already sharing books from her classroom with our parents so that they will have things ready to share with their grandbaby. 

Kendall loves watching shows and taking walks with our dog, activities that I know she will enjoy sharing with a little one. Although she may not be extroverted, her love flows for those she gets to know. Anyone who spends ten minutes with her can tell you that she is caring and selfless. 

Any child would be lucky to call her “mom”; she will love them endlessly and will always have her in their corner. Her passion for God and the example she sets by how she treats everyone she encounters will be an amazing example for a child.

We moved!  We decided to move to a bigger house and a different community! 

Our house is a two story house in Northeast Indiana.  We are just in the edge of town, so we get the best of country and town living.   We have a big privacy fenced backyard with a wooden playhouse already to go! Along with a patio to sit and talk with friends on in the backyard. 

The inside of our new house is open concept.  Our favorite place to be is still on the couch with a movie on and popcorn!  We have our board games in living room ready to go! 

We are close to town, which has parks and trails.  Both of our parents are close by less than a half hour drive to our house.  We love living in our new house and have enjoyed being closer to friends and extended family too! 

Home 

We live in a cozy home that we’ve made our own. Having soft blankets to snuggle up with in the living room is a must and the comfy couch is the best place to watch a movie together. Our master bedroom is connected to the nursery through the bathroom, which we imagine will be very helpful as we care for a little one. 

In our fenced backyard, we created a patio that is perfect for dinners with friends. It’s a great place to sit outside and talk while watching our puppy play. We love having room to run around and be outside in nature and we imagine a little one will too! 

Neighborhood

Our house sits on a quiet culdesac street less than a mile away from some of the local school buildings. A quiet wooded area down the road offers paved pathways for walking and exploring nature. Our sweet elderly neighbor loves to say hello to our dog and we know she is excited to spoil a little one. 

Community 

We love living in Northeast Indiana. The local drive-in theater plays movies during the summer and throughout the year, we head downtown to enjoy First Fridays! The first Friday of every month, the downtown district puts on a theme of events and many shops participate to bring the community together. The library has a child’s program, the pool has swimming lessons, and there are many friends around to have playdates with!. The school system even has a dual language program!

One of our favorite things to do is sit down and watch something on the television. Whether it be a show or movie, we enjoy the time together, the entertainment, and the laughs. When we get a weekend to relax, sometimes we’ll make a fort in the living room to watch a movie. Our cat and puppy will curl up with us to watch the television also!  

Josh has always loved sports. He grew up going to many sporting events with his father and is excited to watch and help a little one with sports if he/she chooses to do so. Josh has also coached many different teams. I have gone with him to watch the games and enjoyed watching him cheer on the kids as they work hard!  

Since we were both teachers at one point, we have many children’s books that we can’t wait to share! The books we have are some of the classics, like Dr. Seuss, and other fun and educational reads. Kendall loves planning games and activities for children to learn and have fun at the same time. We have many craft-building materials and puzzles for a child to discover and problem solve with!

Our parents are so excited to be grandparents! All four grandparents live close by and are just a phone call away. We see them multiple times a month, usually for dinner, and for playing with our puppy. Always willing to lend a hand, they have been so helpful when we have wanted to do renovations around the house and yard. They are looking forward to quality time with a little one.  

We are together with extended family a few times each year, getting together to eat and talk. Some of our family members live out of state, which gives us great opportunities to go on road trips, visit and spend time with each other. We have family in Florida; as we are on the way to a vacation we usually spend a day or two with them, playing with the kids, eating, and enjoying quality time together.  

Our friends are so excited to be supporting us on this adoption journey. Many of them have even gifted us some basic necessities to help us get started for when the baby comes. Friends have mentioned they are excited for a baby shower to love on the little one and shower a child with toys and fun items. We are humbled that they speak highly of us and reassure us that we will be excellent parents.

We are looking forward to sharing and giving to a child everything we can; love, support, encouragement, and a shoulder to cry on. We hope to help a little one to understand their emotions and be there to walk through life with them. 

If we are chosen as an adoptive family, a little one will be cared for, loved, and prayed for by so many people: us, our families, friends, and others. We want to put our whole hearts into this child and family. We believe you are doing the same as you put your heart into this decision.

Since we have been together, adoption has always come up. We have prayed about it, talked about it, and talked to other families who have adopted, and we feel as though it is the right path for us. We feel called by God to adopt at this time in our life.

We hope to have an open or semi-open adoption and want to share with the child right away his/her adoption book. We would like to include photos of you if that is what you would like. We will talk to them about their adoption at age-appropriate levels, which change over time. We will answer his/her questions to the best of our ability. You will always be a part of their story.
