Hello, we are Josh and Kendall! We are honored to have this opportunity to share who we are with you!
We first met as colleagues; we were both teachers at the same school! Kendall had asked Josh for help with a couple of technology questions and later he messaged her online. When school was canceled one day, we decided to move our scheduled date to that night! We enjoyed our dinner, continued talking and have been together ever since.
After months of dating, learning more about each other, and laughing more than we can say, we knew we wanted to spend our lives together. On a trip to Florida with Kendall’s parents, Josh had Kendall’s friend and family help with his proposal. We were married 2019 and had our close friends standing with us and praying over us before the wedding.
After enjoying the newly-wed life for a little over a year, we started to discuss having children. Josh had always wanted to adopt and Kendall was always open to it. Suddenly, it seemed adoption was everywhere; in movie plots, on TV and we even bumped into folks and met new people who have been touched by adoption. Hearing other’s experiences has only reassured us that adoption is right for us.
We hope to become parents and feel God is calling us to pursue this dream through adoption. Those who love us are giving us support and encouragement and are praying for us and you. We are ready to welcome a little one into our home and hearts.
Expectant mothers who choose to make an adoption plan may qualify for some level of financial assistance during their pregnancy. However, each person's situation and specific needs are different. Your adoption social worker can help you determine what level of assistance you qualify for and deserve. Many expectant mothers qualify for financial assistance to cover basic pregnancy and living expenses, including but not limited to - transportation reimbursement, utility assistance for phone, water, and electricity/gas, maternity clothing and supplements, etc.
It won't cost you anything. If you choose to place your baby for adoption, all of your medical and legal fees will be covered and you may be eligible for financial assistance with other pregnancy-related expenses.
Yes. Even if you don’t know the identity of the birth father, you can still choose to make an adoption plan. However, every adoption situation is different. The adoption social worker you’re assigned to will get to know you and your story first, and then guide you through the process accordingly.
You can make an adoption plan at any point in your pregnancy, even after the baby has been born. But, it's important to start the process as early in your pregnancy as possible. Connecting with those resources will allow you to gain access to important medical services, including prenatal care, to help ensure a healthy pregnancy.
One aspect of your adoption plan is the "Hospital Plan" an outline of how you'd like your hospital stay and delivery to go. You can craft this on your own or with the help of your adoption social worker. But everything is up to you. You’ll be able to choose who comes to the hospital with you, who is in the room with you during delivery, and how much time you’d like to spend with the baby before signing the final papers.
As part of your adoption plan, you'll determine whether or not you’d like to have an open or closed adoption or something in between. Open adoptions may include phone calls, messaging (via social media, email, or text), and/or periodic visits each year. Closed adoptions may include no contact at all or annual updates provided to the birth parent(s) by the adoptive family. Each post-adoption relationship is different and can vary based on what an expectant mother chooses in her adoption plan.
We celebrated Easter this past weekend! We went to a communion dinner with Josh's parents and their church on Thursday. We watched the Good Friday service from our church on Friday, since we couldn't get there in time for the in person service. On Saturday, we picked up my parents from the airport, they were visiting family in Florida. Finally on Sunday, we went to church then to my extended family Easter. There was about 25 people there. We had delicious food and laughter. We hope you had a great Easter weekend!
We went to Michigan this weekend. We started off with picking up my cousin's dogs for them, while they were on their way home from vacation. Josh and I went to see For King and Country at Eastern Michigan. They had an amazing concert, as usual. Luke even came up the seats close to us during the performance, which was insane. We spent the rest of the weekend with family who lives there. I (Kendall) got to catch up with my cousins, they are getting so much older now, driving now and half way through high school.
We added a shelves and books to the nursery! It slowly is starting to feel more home like.
We can't wait to add a little one to the nursery!
We went to Barnes and Noble a few months back and they had a great sale! We got some more books to add to our other books to read to the baby, once it is our time.
We are celebrating Josh's dad. He was given the award into the wrestling hall of fame for refereeing over 51 years, and counting. We are so proud of his commitment and love of wrestling.
A dessert recipe we would like to share is cheesecake. This cheesecake recipe doesn't require the oven.
The ingredients are
1 crust
1 cup sugar
1 block of cream cheese
1 tub cool whip
Beat cream cheese and sugar with a whisk or mixer until blended. Stir in cool whip. Spoon it all in the crust. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours. You can add any toppings you would like. One option is to fruit, chocolate, chocolate chips, or crushed up grahm crackers. I hope you Enjoy it!
Since we are both home from our schools, hello snow days, we would like to share. I (Kendall) started off by making creppes for breakfast! We watched our dog play in the snow, Josh shoveled snow off the sidewalk and driveway, we played most of a game of Monopoly, and caught up on the latest season of America's Got Talent. I have loved this quality time together. Our cat has enjoyed snuggling up with us on the couch too. I hope to read a few chapters of Becoming over next few days. We can't wait for the days of snow with a little one with us. Praying for everyone. Have a good day and keep warm!
We enjoyed the quality time together for a conert in the fall. We loved the RELATE Tour: For King and Country. We are excited to go to more concerts this spring!
We went a on a long weekend trip to visit Josh's sister in Georgia. We spent time with our neices and other family. The girls were so excited to see that we came, it was a surprise. We enjoyed time in the pool and making fun food and desserts in their kitchen. It was a nice time to take a small getaway. We can't wait to visit them again!
